The Bowen Technique & your Mental Health, By Debbie Guest

I’m not going to say numbers or quote statistics. You can seek and discover these for yourself and all the figures are different. No one is a number.

I can say feeling wound up and stressed is a common symptom in life; low mood, sleep problems and anxiety are others.

What I will say, is that the Bowen Technique can help to achieve and maintain balance within you. Not just the physical balance within your body, Bowen Therapy is incredibly beneficial for emotional relaxation. It’s a great supporting tool that can help relieve stress, low mood, sleep problems and anxiety.

This is achieved by taking the body out of the fight/flight/freeze mode. It helps promote a feeling of calm and relaxation which allows the body to change, heal, and repair.

Bowen therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free, holistic therapy –  its hand on. Small rolling movements are made over muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissue at specific focus points on the body. Bowen therapy encourages the body to recognise what’s going on and address it, rather than “forcing” it to change.

People often comment how much lighter and how tall they feel after a Bowen treatment. Helping muscles and posture, the body becomes more upright – looking and feeling more confident. Being less hunched, there’s also more space in the lugs for fresh air and deeper breathing; in turn, clearer thinking. Releasing toxins from the body means you are cleaner.

Your mental health can manifest into physical issues such as, back ache, neck tension, migraines, IBS; to name a few. Bowen therapy can also help with these too.

The Bowen technique; simple, effective, and straightforward – Try it and see!
